Five Catholic school teachers earn Emerson Awards for Excellence

Five teachers in Catholic schools are among 102 local educators to receive the 2009 Emerson Excellence in Teacher Awards.
They are Lynn F. Crecelius, Sacred Heart School in Valley Park; Angela Heffner, St. Michael the Archangel School in Shrewsbury; Anne McCormack, St. Gerard Majella School in Kirkwood; Tracy K. Nondorf, Ursuline Academy in Oakland; and Patricia Weir, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta School in Ferguson.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony and reception Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Sheldon in Midtown St. Louis.
Emerson, headquartered in St. Louis, has sponsored this program since 1989 to promote quality education throughout the area. The award is limited to one teacher per 500 in any district.
The Catholic educators were nominated by their local principals and George Henry, superintendent of Catholic education.
