The Church celebrates Respect Life Month here in the archdiocese and the United States

October marks Respect Life Month, a time when the Catholic Church stops to reflect on her efforts to promote the dignity of human life — from conception until natural death.

In his first interview with the Review on the subject of Respect Life Month, Archbishop Robert J. Carlson said he was “very impressed” with the pro-life efforts in the archdiocese, especially those who pray in front of the local Planned Parenthood abortion facility and groups that make the pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., each year for the March for Life.

Later this month, the archbishop will be the keynote speaker at this year’s annual Respect Life Convention. He also spoke about his efforts in the pro-life movement in previous dioceses, including starting the Mother Teresa Fund, which provided support for pregnant women who choose life for their babies; leading a group of more than 400 people each year to the March for Life; and working with Project Rachel, a ministry for post-abortive individuals.
