Varied Church experience proven fruitful

Having been a priest for almost 64 years, there have been many good experiences and some bad experiences. In that expanse of time there have been many changes in the Church and in the life of a priest.
My first assignment was at Holy Rosary Parish (North St. Louis), which no longer exists. It was a great start. I had two fine pastors in two years. They were different but kindly and very helpful.
My next assignment was at Blessed Sacrament (North St. Louis), which also no longer exists. There, I again had two more pastors in the two years while I was there. They were also different and it was a learning experience. There followed two more assignments as an assistant – St. Ann in Normandy for seven years and Christ The King in University City for five years.
In 1962 I was assigned to Holy Angels Parish in Kinloch, an all African-American community. I was there for seven years. It was small and once I got to know the people and they got to know me, it was a fine pastoral experience.
