Year for Priests: Mass for priests to be held Oct. 1 at St. Mary Magdalen
Solemn Mass also will mark feast day of St. Therese of Lisieux
A Solemn Mass to pray for the sanctification of priests will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2618 Brentwood Boulevard in Brentwood.
The Mass will mark the continuing Year for Priests, which Pope Benedict XVI designated in an effort to encourage “spiritual perfection” in the priesthood. The year also coincides with the 150th anniversary of St. John Vianney, patron saint of priests, and will conclude on June 19, 2010.
In addition, the Mass will note the feast day of St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower, who was known for praying and offering daily sacrifices for the priesthood and the missions.
