Volunteers answer the dreams of so many who come to St. Patrick Center who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, according to Msgr. Mark Ullrich.

The president of Catholic Charities, Msgr. Ullrich made the comment at a program last month honoring volunteers for the center. A number of volunteer efforts were recognized, including the Casserole Program, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary and has some 2,300 volunteers, most of whom come from about 47 parishes in the archdiocese.

Msgr. Ullrich said that the volunteers provide overwhelming support for St. Patrick Center. They meet the challenge of seeing Christ in the face of all those who come to the center in need, he added.

Mary Ann Bisch, Arlene Dolan and JoAnn Smith were among 12 volunteers honored as part of the 100+ Honors Club. The women form the “Monday Ladies,” who come to the Catholic Charities agency on North Tucker Boulevard every Monday, ready to do whatever needs to be done.

The three women, longtime friends, retired at the same time, June of 1999.
