The 40 Days for Life campaign is returning to St. Louis this fall.

The effort, which calls on participants to fast and pray for an end to abortion, will begin Wednesday, Sept. 23, and conclude on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Numerous archdiocesan parishes were among the 32 churches and organizations who participated St. Louis’ first 40 Days for Life campaign, held during Lent of 2009. There were more than 700 individual participants.

Local communications director Dianne Adam said the Lenten campaign was such a success that “we really wanted to capitalize on that.

“We felt very empowered by the number of people who committed to participate with us, so we wanted to continue that,” she said.
