Local broadcasters find happiness in their roles, with their faith
Debbie Monterrey, co-host of the Total Information AM show on KMOX Radio, feels blessed to be at a station th
at is open to talking about religion on the air.
“We still play the Lord’s Prayer every day. I came here from Madison, Wis., which is extremely secular. It’s nice to be in a place where you can talk about religion without the villagers storming with torches,” she said, adding a laugh.
Monterrey, a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Parish in South St. Louis, said she has talked with many Catholics, including priests and nuns, who listen to the station. She likes the sensitivity in the community to religion.
“It helps me understand more when there’s stories about the Catholic Church,” she said.
