Kids get healthy with Walking School Bus
Developed by the Partnership for a Walkable America and the U.S. Department of Transportation, the concept was developed because of studies showing that fewer children are walking and biking to school and that more children are at risk of becoming overweight.
The program elicits schools to encourage formal and informal efforts with families taking turns walking children to school. Providing adult supervision is a way to reduce worries of safety concerns.
