A small booklet was printed in 1950 to support the building campaign for the new Cardinal Glennon Memorial Hospital for Children. It described the St. Louis region’s needs for pediatric medical and surgical services, the potential to advance research and prospects for the training of doctors, surgeons, nurses and technicians.

The founders predicted the new hospital’s contributions to child health would reach across the United States and beyond.

Difficult economic conditions do not reduce childhood illnesses and injuries or the need for services such as those provided by the institution now known as SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center.

Nearly 16,000 donors from all 50 states and several foreign countries shared their strength with Glennon in 2008. Their combined gifts enabled the hospital to continue, for the 52nd year, its mission of providing care to all children in need of our services, regardless of their family circumstances and permitted the hospital to provide many special touches that brighten the lives of patients and families.
