A brand new journey
SAGINAW, Mich. — “A remarkable four years” is the refrain when Catholics of east central Michigan are asked about their bishop, who will leave next month for his new assignment as Archbishop of St. Louis.
Betty Shreve of St. Stephen Parish in Saginaw attended a luncheon in honor of Archbishop-elect Robert J. Carlson hosted by Catholic Federal Credit Union. The credit union has supported a number of initiatives of their bishop since his arrival in February 2005.
“To me, he’s been a breath of fresh air,” Shreve said. “I can’t say enough about his recruitment of priests, his commitment to Catholic education and his work in the community.”
