Funeral Mass celebrated for Sr. Mary Thomas McNeela
A funeral Mass was celebrated April 18 in the Seton Residence chapel in Evansville, Ind., for Sister Mary Thomas McNeela, former executive director of the Guardian Angel Settlement in St. Louis and a councillor for the Marillac Provincialate of the Daughters of Charity.
Sister Mary Thomas, 87, died at Seton Residence April 15. Born in Chicago, she became a postulant with the Daughters of Charity after graduating from high school in 1939.
A member of the West Central Province in St. Louis, she taught at the former St. Malachy School in St. Louis from 1941-47, served as a councillor for the provincialate from 1963-74 and was executive director of the Guardian Angel Settlement from 1989-94.
