A funeral Mass was celebrated April 23 for Sister Mary Ann Eckhoff, former superintendent of Catholic education, at the School Sisters of Notre Dame Motherhouse Chapel in Lemay.

Sister Mary Ann died April 18 at her home in St. Louis. She was 78 years old. Since 2004, Sister Mary Ann was a project coordinator for educational programs for the Incarnate Word Foundation in St. Louis.

Sister Mary Ann was the first woman superintendent of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, the first woman president of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and the first woman on the executive board of the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.
