HEART Workcamp Between 375-400 teens and youth leaders from around the country will be in the St. Louis area beginning Monday, July 28, for Catholic HEART Workcamp. HEART stands for Helping Everyone Attain Repairs Today. The youths will do service projects for the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging, the Herbert Hoover Boys and Girls Club of St. Louis and the Webster/Rock Hill Ministries. Opening ceremonies will be Monday afternoon at Visitation Academy. Concert news Guitarist Peter Mayer will perform at St. Joseph Parish, 567 St. Joseph Lane in Manchester, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30. The concert will benefit the parishs youth group. Chorus auditions The Carondelet Childrens Chorus and the Carondelet Womens Chorus will hold auditions in August for children ages 7 to 18 for the upcoming season. Call (314) 962-6627 to set up an audition. Abbot re-elected Father Thomas Frerking, OSB, has been re-elected abbot of St. Louis Abbey in Creve Coeur. Father Frerking, a St. Louis native, joined the St. Louis Priory monastic community in 1979 and was ordained a priest in 1986. The former headmaster of St. Louis Priory School, he was first elected abbot in 1995. School supply time Circle of Concern, West Countys community charity, is seeking school supplies for low-income students who live in or attend school in the Rockwood, Parkway or Valley Park districts. Donated supplies need to be delivered to the charity at 112 St. Louis Ave. in Valley Park by Wednesday, Aug. 6, for delivery by Saturday, Aug. 9. Call (636) 861-2623 for information. Grant news SSM St. Joseph Senior Health Clinic in St. Charles has been awarded a grant for more than $295,000 from the Missouri Foundation for Health. The clinic provides dental services to people over age 60 in St. Charles, Warren and Lincoln counties. Top 10 St. Louis University Hospital has been ranked among the top 10 hospitals in the nation and best in the region for geriatric medicine by U.S. News and World Report. St. Clare novena A novena in honor of St. Clare will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 2-10, at the Monastery of St. Clare, 200 Marycrest Drive in South County. Services include readings, prayers, sermons and Benediction. Auxiliary Bishop Robert Hermann will preach Aug. 2. The public is welcome.
