Reception of the Pallium - Archbishop Robert J. Carlson
Archbishop Robert J. Carlson received the pallium (a circular stole made of lamb's wool, symbolizing his role as a true 'shephard' of the Archdiocese) from Pope Benedict XVI during a Mass at St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican.
Thirty-three other new Archbishops received the pallium, including St. Louis natives Archbishop Timothy Dolan and Archbishop George Lucas.
More than 40 people from the Archdiocese of Saint Louis attended the Mass as part of a pilgrimage to Rome.
